What is Imbolc And Why We Celebrate It Imbolc is a traditional Celtic festival that marks the beginning of Spring and the end of Winter.  It is celebrated on February 1st or 2nd, depending on the lunar calendar. Imbolc means " in the belly " in Old Irish , referring to the pregnancy of ewes and the promise of new life. 🐑 Imbolc is also known as Brigid's Day, honoring the Celtic goddess of fire, healing, poetry, and smithcraft.  She is associated with the dawn, the light, and the awakening of nature.
